Privacy Policy

Who we are

Reasonwell Press ("we," "us") publishes practice materials and free tools for parents preparing children for gifted and cognitive-ability tests. You can reach us at support@reasonwellpress.com.

What we collect

• Your email address, if you choose to request our free sample pack or subscribe to updates. You give this to us through a sign-up form.
• The optional details on that form, if you fill them in: the test, your child’s grade, your school district and the test date. They are stored with your email address so the material we send fits your child. Leave them blank if you prefer.
• Anything else you send us, such as a question or a correction you email to us.
• Page-visit measurement on our pages for parents and teachers, through Google Analytics, described below. Our children’s games are not measured.

How we count page visits

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits to the pages of this site that are written for parents and teachers, so we can see which pages are used. It does not run on our children’s games (see below). When one of these pages loads, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID). These cookies hold a random identifier, so visits from the same browser can be counted together. With each visit Google receives standard details:

• the page address, without anything after a # or ?, and the page's title;
• the page you came from, also without anything after a # or ?;
• browser, device type, screen size and language;
• an approximate location derived from your IP address;
• timing, such as how long a page stayed open and how far it was scrolled.

Google Analytics also notes, on its own, clicks on links that leave our site and on files such as PDFs. On pages for parents we record a few more actions:

• following a link into one of our games (we record only which game, not anything in the link after a # or ?);
• downloading a free sample;
• clicking through to a book on Amazon;
• whether a sign-up form succeeded or failed, with the test and grade picked from its optional menus, if any.

These records name the file or book and the part of the page the link was in. They never include your email address, district, test date or anything else you type into a form.

We have turned off Google signals and ad personalization for this measurement.

Google Analytics sends this information to Google's servers, which can include google-analytics.com and google.com.

Our free games

Logica, Numeris, the math games and Today’s Expedition are made for children to use, so their pages load no Google Analytics, advertising or other third-party code, and set no cookies. They need no account. Progress, answers and settings are saved only in your browser’s storage on that device, and clearing this site’s data removes them. If your browser blocks that storage, the day’s progress in Today’s Expedition is carried from page to page in the part of the web address after the “#”, which browsers never send to a server. Nothing about play is sent to us or anyone else.

Read-aloud in the games uses the voices built into your browser. Some browsers offer online voices that send the words being read to the browser maker's speech service; turning read-aloud off in the game's settings avoids that.

The games link straight to this privacy page, so this page and our terms of use load no analytics either. Other links from the games lead to our pages for parents, which are measured as described above. A few links in the games’ notes for grown-ups go to outside sites, such as the published learning standards and research papers they cite; those sites follow their own privacy policies.

To see roughly how much the games are used, we count clicks into them from our pages for parents and teachers (above), and we read Google Search Console’s aggregate reports of searches that lead to them. Like any website, our host’s servers receive the requests that load each page.

How we use your information

• To send you the sample pack and any updates you asked for.
• To answer your questions and corrections.
• To see, in aggregate, which pages are used so we can improve them.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

Service providers

A few services help us run the site, and each handles information for us:

• Vercel hosts the site.
• MailerLite delivers the sample pack and updates you sign up for.
• Google provides Google Analytics, on our pages for parents and teachers only.

We also take part in the Amazon Associates program. If you follow an Amazon link and buy, Amazon may set its own cookies, and we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Cookies and local storage

On our pages for parents and teachers, Google Analytics sets the cookies described above. Our games set no cookies; they use your browser’s local storage to save progress on your device. A few features on our other pages do the same: the homepage puzzle remembers how many times it has been shown and the level reached, so a returning visitor picks up at that level with a different first puzzle, and for as long as the browser tab is open it keeps the puzzle in progress and its place in the current set of five, so a reload doesn’t lose them; the Fraction Splitter keeps its progress; and the math games shown inside three of our math practice pages save their progress just as they do on their own pages. Nothing in local storage is sent to us.

Children's privacy

This site is written for parents, guardians and teachers. Our free games are designed for children to use, without accounts. We never ask children for email addresses or other contact details, and nothing a child types or plays in the games is sent to us. The one place a child can type a name is an optional box for the printable poster in the Fraction Splitter; that name stays in this browser and is printed only on the poster. If you believe a child has given us personal information, for example by entering it into a sign-up form, contact us at support@reasonwellpress.com and we will delete it.

Your choices

• You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time, using the link in any message or by emailing us.
• You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at support@reasonwellpress.com.
• You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be made clear on this page.
