What this worksheet practices
Even and odd is the Grade 2 language of pairs. A number is even when it can be split into two equal groups or paired with no leftover. A number is odd when one item is left without a partner. This idea later supports arrays, factors, and divisibility.
Students first reason by making pairs: if every sock has a partner, the number is even; if one sock is left over, the number is odd. The ones digit rule then becomes a shortcut with meaning, not just a memorized list.
If a student guesses from memory, ask them to draw pairs for one or two numbers. The drawing does not need to be fancy. A quick set of dots is enough to show whether there is a leftover.
